LaRey's artwork is featured through Inspire Arts, a Connecticut-based disability arts program created by The Supported Living Group to provide artists living with disabilities and brain injuries with opportunities for creative expression, community participation, exhibitions, and the marketing and sale of their artwork.

As a stroke survivor living with hemiparalysis and expressive aphasia, her lived experience has influenced the way she approaches the creative process. Art provides an opportunity to communicate visually and express ideas that may not always be easily communicated through traditional conversation.
This is one of the reasons creative arts can be particularly meaningful within the brain injury community. Inspire Arts' programming recognizes that visual art can provide alternative avenues for expression and connection, including for individuals experiencing communication challenges following brain injury.
LaRey's work demonstrates that a disability may influence an artist's creative process without defining the artist's creative potential.
LaRey's Artistic Style
LaRey's work spans a variety of subjects and visual approaches. She frequently incorporates recognizable cultural figures, animals, music-related imagery, and symbolic themes into her artwork.
Her gallery includes paintings and mixed-media pieces inspired by figures including Billie Holiday, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Elvis Presley, John F. Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe, and The Beatles, alongside animal imagery such as owls, sea turtles, tigers, and bees.

Inspire Arts provides artists living with disabilities and brain injuries with access to creative spaces, artistic instruction, community experiences, exhibitions, and opportunities to share their work with a broader audience. The program operates in Avon and Bethany, Connecticut, serving artists across several Connecticut communities.
The program was established by The Supported Living Group and is built around the belief that creativity can foster expression, connection, purpose, confidence, and greater independence.
LaRey's work is an example of what can happen when artists are given the opportunity, space, and support to continue developing their creative voices.
