Tyler Horta | Multidisciplinary Artist, Filmmaker & Creative Storyteller

Tyler Horta is a multidisciplinary artist, filmmaker, and creative storyteller whose work is driven by experimentation, collaboration, and a desire to challenge conventional approaches to artistic expression. An audacious and innovative creative, Tyler embraces opportunities to push boundaries, explore new ideas, and discover what can happen when traditional artistic expectations are set aside.

His creative practice extends beyond visual art. Tyler has developed experience across film, video production, writing, directing, editing, cinematography, and experimental storytelling, allowing him to explore creative expression through multiple mediums. His educational background at Columbia College Chicago further supported his development as a multidisciplinary creative.

Storytelling sits at the center of Tyler's creative philosophy. He is fascinated by the ability of art and film to communicate experiences, challenge perspectives, and create connections between people. His work demonstrates an interest in not simply telling a story, but exploring how a story can be experienced, interpreted, and shared.

Tyler's creative portfolio includes independent film projects and collaborations with other artists. His work on The Jo Show, a short-form documentary series focused on New York City artists, provided an opportunity to combine storytelling, filmmaking, and collaboration while highlighting the creative experiences of others. He has also worked across a range of film productions in roles including writer, director, producer, editor, cinematographer, and production crew.

His independent experimental film work has also received recognition, including awards at the Global Film Festival, where one of his projects received recognition for Best Experimental Short Film and an Honorable Mention for Best Director.

Collaboration remains an important part of Tyler's approach. He enjoys connecting with people regardless of their artistic experience, background, or perspective. For Tyler, some of the most interesting creative possibilities emerge when people with different ideas and experiences come together.

Through his connection with Inspire Arts CT, Tyler brings an unconventional and energetic perspective to the creative community. His willingness to experiment encourages others to consider art not simply as a finished product, but as a process of exploration, storytelling, collaboration, and discovery.

Tyler approaches creativity with curiosity and an openness to the unexpected. He enjoys going against the norm, questioning established conventions, and pushing the boundaries of what artistic expression can become.

Whether working with visual art, film, video, storytelling, or collaborative projects, Tyler's goal is not necessarily to follow an established formula. Instead, he embraces the question:

"What happens if we try something different?"

That willingness to experiment is at the heart of Tyler's identity as a creative.
