MEET THE ARTIST
Matteo describes himself as a multi-faceted artist, drawing creative inspiration from nature, modern culture, art history, music, and design. Since becoming involved with Inspire Arts CT, Matteo has been able to reconnect with his creativity and rekindle his passion for artistic expression.
Matteo has developed a particular appreciation for Impressionism and the work of influential artists such as Vincent van Gogh and Leonardo da Vinci. Their distinctive approaches to color, composition, observation, and creative experimentation have encouraged Matteo to explore different ways of interpreting the world around him.
His influences extend beyond traditional fine art. Matteo also finds inspiration in the album and cover artwork associated with 1980s music, particularly the distinctive visual styles connected with bands such as Duran Duran and Iron Maiden. The combination of music, illustration, graphic design, and visual storytelling found in these album covers has provided Matteo with another important source of creative inspiration.

Matteo’s Artistic Journey.
Matteo’s artistic journey began with an unexpected return to a passion he had once set aside. Prior to becoming involved with Inspire Arts CT, Matteo had been working in a traditional retail environment, an employment experience that was significantly impacted by the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. As he explored new opportunities, Matteo was introduced to Inspire Arts CT, where he was encouraged to reconnect with his longstanding interest in art and design.
One of the first significant milestones in Matteo’s creative journey was the opportunity to create his own interpretation of Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night. With support and encouragement from the Inspire Arts team, Matteo was able to explore the techniques, colors, movement, and visual energy associated with the original work while developing his own creative interpretation.
What began as a single artistic exploration quickly developed into something more meaningful. Matteo rediscovered the enjoyment and sense of purpose that came from creating, and he has continued to develop his artistic interests through Inspire Arts CT. His journey now encompasses painting, jewelry making, design, and reinterpretations of influential works, reflecting an expanding artistic identity and a renewed confidence in his creative abilities.
