Outsider Artist, and Brain Injury Survivor, Lynn Johnson, took influence from an Emil Ludwig quote centered on the link between a first kiss and love and the pop art movement to create this striking piece.

“The decision to kiss for the first time is the most crucial in any love story. It changes the relationship of two people much more strongly than even the final surrender; because this kiss already has within it that surrender.” - Emil Ludwig

Statement: In total contrast to my normal bright & vibrant color palette, I was excited to push into darker, muted tones for this painting. This painting is also one of my largest to date with an extreme close-up as the subject matter versus my typical work with figures.
