Melissa Schräger | Graphic Designer & Creative Problem Solver

Melissa Schräger (she/her) is a Connecticut graphic designer, creative problem-solver, and advocate for creativity. Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, Melissa developed an early appreciation for the ways design can transform ideas into meaningful visual communication.

Melissa earned an Associate of Science in Graphic Design from Tunxis Community College and a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic/Information Design from Central Connecticut State University. Her education and professional experiences have provided her with a diverse foundation in graphic design, visual communication, creative thinking, and problem-solving.

For Melissa, creative problem-solving is more than a professional skill—it is an important part of who she is. She enjoys looking at challenges from different perspectives, exploring possibilities, and finding creative approaches to ideas and problems.

Throughout her career, Melissa has worked across a variety of industries, including professional experiences with Lowe’s and The Home Depot. These experiences have allowed her to apply her design and communication skills in different environments while developing an understanding of how creativity can contribute to business, customer experience, and organizational success.

Melissa currently works as a Technical Advisor with the University of Hartford’s Entrepreneurial and Women’s Business Center, where she has the opportunity to support individuals pursuing entrepreneurial and professional goals. Her work reflects her broader passion for helping others recognize and develop their own creative potential.

Melissa strongly believes that everyone is creative. In her view, creativity does not have to look the same for everyone—it is about discovering how an individual naturally expresses ideas, solves problems, and interacts with the world around them.

This philosophy is central to Melissa's approach to creativity. Whether through graphic design, visual art, entrepreneurship, gardening, or everyday problem-solving, she encourages others to identify where their own creativity exists and find meaningful ways to apply it.

Outside of her professional and creative work, Melissa enjoys spending time outdoors, gardening, and sharing life with her two dogs, Oliver and Rebel. Her appreciation for nature and hands-on creativity provides another source of inspiration and balance.

Through her connection with Inspire Arts CT, Melissa brings together her professional experience, design background, and belief in the power of creativity to encourage others to explore their own creative possibilities.
